Dean’s Teaching Fellowship – URMC School of Medicine
The Dean's Teaching Fellowship is a competitive two-year program open to faculty at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, who are committed to academic careers. Generally, 3-5 fellows are selected annually. Fellows spend 15% of their time on the program, which includes a three-hour biweekly seminar series and completion of an educational project.

Research & Education Pilot Awards – URMC Department of Medicine
Through the Research and Education Pilot Awards, the Department of Medicine fosters innovation and faculty development by funding 4-6 pilot projects annually for research, quality and educational initiatives.
General Medicine faculty member, Dr. Melissa Mroz received this award in 2018 to fund the project titled “Addressing Obesity & Mental Health through a Primary Care Based Lifestyle Management Intervention at Strong Internal Medicine.”
Dr. David Satcher Community Health Improvement Awards
The Satcher Community Health Improvement Awards recognizes University of Rochester Medical Center faculty and staff for significant contributions to the health of the community through research, teaching, practice, and/or service programs.
General Medicine faculty member, Dr. Mahala Schlagman was the 2020 junior faculty award winner for developing the Internal Medicine Health Equity Curriculum, initiating the Health Equity Advocacy Team, and her role in the formation of a medical legal partnership at Strong Internal Medicine.
