Our Facilities
The Department of Imaging Sciences is composed of two hospitals and three outpatient imaging centers providing digital and computed radiography, digital fluoroscopy, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, CT, MR, and angiography services. We currently operate 15 CT scanners (64- and 128-slice), 16 MRI scanners (nine 1.5 and seven 3 Tesla magnets), 1 PET-CT scanner and 1 PET-MR Scanner.
University of Rochester Medical Center
Main training site. Solitary Level 1 trauma center in Rochester NY, with a large referral area for tertiary and quaternary sub-specialty services. State of the art 7 procedure rooms with latest equipment and support staff. Dedicated out-patient clinic for new consults and post procedure follow up.
East River Road
Part of Strong Memorial Hospital with a dedicated outpatient interventional radiology clinic to expand the use of minimally invasive, image-guided procedures
Highland Hospital
Affiliated community hospital. General IR services with a dedicated, state of the art procedure room.
F. F Thompson Hospital
Affiliated regional community hospital. Dedicated, new interventional suite. Basic IR services, with focus on out-patient based services such as kyphoplasty, varicose vein treatment, pain management, migraine treatment and some peripheral vascular disease interventions.
Volume
The Department of Imaging Sciences performs over 600,000 examinations annually at Strong Memorial Hospital and its outpatient facilities. An additional 90,000 examinations are performed each year at nearby Highland Hospital.
Reading Rooms
The Department of Imaging Sciences is a filmless environment. Reading rooms are equipped with multi flat-panel color PACS workstations which allow for real-time volume and multiplanar reconstructions. Voice recognition software is utilized for report dictation.
Amenities
Other amenities include a departmental library, resident lounge and study area with computers, and a state-of-the-art conference room designed for residency education with tiered seating, LCD projectors, a PACS workstation and an audience response system.
