Message from the Director
As a former graduate of this program, it gives me immense pleasure to write this note, as I take over the role of Program Director for Complex General Surgical Oncology fellowship.
Roswell Park has a long-standing history of excellence in education, specifically in the field of surgical oncology and has trained many leaders in this field over the years. Dr Kane has done an incredible job in this role and has been instrumental in taking the program to the next level. He has handed me this amazing responsibility and I hope to carry on this legacy going forward. With this enormous responsibility comes an incredible opportunity.
A well-rounded training in all aspects of surgical oncology, strong focus on multidisciplinary cancer care, ideal size of faculty and fellowship and only cancer focused patient care are some of the strengths of our training program that sets us apart. Our faculty at Roswell strives for excellence in all aspects and an ideal applicant would be some one that shares the same passion for learning, will work hard and is motivated to take a leadership role in making a difference in the field of Surgical Oncology.
The field of surgical oncology and surgical education is evolving rapidly with major technological advances, especially in Robotics. The landscape will be very different in next several years with 5 major companies launching their surgical robots in the market. Simulation based learning and data analytics will play a huge role, and at Roswell, we have recently invested a lot in terms of two teaching robotic consoles, simulators and also pushing the envelope by taking a leadership role in development of newer technologies and establishing us as a pilot site for some of these practices.
Please strongly consider Roswell Park for your fellowship training in Complex General Surgical Oncology and feel free to email me should you have any questions during the application process.
