Our Mission

Our mission is to train outstanding clinicians, researchers, educators, and future leaders in interventional cardiology. We are committed to improving the lives of patients with coronary artery disease, peripheral arterial disease, and structural heart disease.

Through a culture rooted in clinical excellence, academic inquiry, integrity, and professionalism, our program aligns with our institution's commitment to delivering safe, compassionate, and cutting-edge healthcare enriched by science, education, and technology.

Program Aims

  • Deliver World-Class Training: Equip fellows with the cognitive and technical skills required to provide expert, independent care in all areas of interventional cardiovascular medicine.
  • Foster Procedural Excellence: Offer hands-on, patient-centered learning in a high-volume academic setting with progressive autonomy under the mentorship of dedicated, full-time faculty.
  • Support Comprehensive Education: Provide a well-rounded learning experience through case-based learning, core lectures, case conferences, journal clubs, outpatient clinics, and participation in patient safety and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Serve Diverse Patient Populations: Expose fellows to a wide spectrum of patients—from rural to urban and inner-city communities—through our unique position as an urban academic and regional referral center.
  • Promote Research and Innovation: Encourage involvement in clinical research, quality improvement projects, and scholarly activity aimed at publication, presentation, or impactful change in clinical practice.
  • Advance Technological Expertise: Offer hands-on exposure to the latest interventional technologies and pharmacologic innovations through participation in ongoing clinical trials.
  • Cultivate Future Leaders: Inspire and mentor the next generation of leaders in interventional cardiovascular medicine—both in clinical practice and academic research.
