Welcome from the Program Director
Welcome from the Program Director

Welcome to the Interventional Cardiology Fellowship Program at the University of Rochester Medical Center. As the Program Director, I am proud to lead a fellowship that offers an exceptional blend of clinical training, academic rigor, and personalized mentorship. Our mission is to cultivate the next generation of interventional cardiologists who are not only technically proficient but also compassionate and innovative leaders in the field.
Our one-year ACGME-accredited program accepts two fellows annually, providing an immersive experience in a high-volume cardiac catheterization laboratory. Fellows gain hands-on experience with a diverse array of procedures, including percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI) and treatments for structural heart diseases. Additionally, our institution's active heart transplant and ventricular assist device (VAD) center offers fellows substantial exposure to mechanical circulatory support systems.
Education is a cornerstone of our program. Fellows participate in regular teaching conferences, case-review sessions, and journal clubs, fostering a robust knowledge base and critical thinking skills. Our dedicated faculty are deeply invested in the professional growth of each fellow, offering individualized mentorship and support throughout the training period.
Research opportunities abound, with many fellows engaging in clinical studies and contributing to publications and presentations during their fellowship. This scholarly activity complements the clinical training, ensuring a well-rounded educational experience.
We are currently accepting applications for the 2026–2027 academic year through the Interventional Cardiology Match process. Applicants must have completed or be enrolled in a 3-year ACGME-accredited general cardiology program.
Thank you for considering our program. We invite you to explore our website further to learn more about the curriculum, faculty, and application process. Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
Sincerely,
Craig R. Narins, M.D.
