These are tough economic times, for sure. But we cannot afford to slacken the pace of advancement of research that cures childhood disease and keeps children healthy. And we cannot afford to shirk our duty to foster the careers of the next generation of biomedical researchers who will ensure that the health of our children, adolescents, and adults is vastly better in the years to come than anything of which we can dream today.
