Identifying Risk Factors to Decrease the Development of Heart Disease
Rae Ellen Kavey, M.D., M.P.H., is joining the URMC Division of Pediatric Cardiology. She comes to Rochester from the National Heart, Lung, Blood Institute of the National Institutes of Health. Kavey is an expert in the area of preventive cardiology, identifying and treating risk factors to decrease the development of future heart disease. At the NIH, she has been the director of the Pediatric Cardiovascular Risk Reduction Program and has coordinated the development of an integrated evidence-based guideline addressing all the risks for cardiovascular disease in childhood and adolescence to be released this fall. At URMC, she will direct the clinical research program in pediatric cardiology and develop a preventive cardiology program for the division.
