CMSR Weekly Seminars
The CMSR conducts weekly in-person seminars every Wednesday from 8:30-9:30am; seminars are typically held in the Class of '62 Auditorium (G-9425), Adolph Auditorium (1-7619), or K-207 Auditorium (2-6408), depending on availability. Each meeting is moderated by two to three trainees who take 12-15 minutes each to present either ‘dirty data’ for discussion of troubleshooting and research direction (Work in Progress) or formal presentations that provide background, hypotheses, experimental strategies, results, and conclusions regarding a single project. Following each presentation, attendees are invited to ask questions or provide feedback regarding the trainee's research and/or presentation. Additionally, on a rotating basis, a Faculty Evaluator and a Trainee Evaluator are assigned to each presenter to provide them with a written review of their presentation that includes constructive criticism as well as input on data interpretation and the design of future experiments. These weekly seminars and the resulting exchange of ideas are critical for our trainees to develop into rigorous scientists and be prepared for scientific careers. The updated meeting guidelines can be found here: 2024 Center Meeting Guidelines & Schedule. Below is the July to December 2024 calendar of scheduled presenters, which is subject to change (topics updated prior to each meeting).
