UR Medicine Home Care Licensed Services Earns Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval®

Wednesday, March 13, 2024

Joint Commission SealUR Medicine Home Care's Licensed Service Agency (LHCSA) has been awarded The Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval® for Accreditation, affirming its ongoing adherence to rigorous performance standards and commitment to delivering safe, high-quality patient care.

Undergoing a thorough, unannounced onsite evaluation this winter, UR Medicine Home Care's LHCSA underwent scrutiny across various domains including emergency management, environmental safety, infection prevention and control, and leadership practices. The Joint Commission's standards, developed in collaboration with healthcare experts, patients, and measurement specialists, provide a comprehensive framework for assessing and enhancing organizational performance. Surveyors conducted meticulous onsite assessments and interviews as part of their evaluation process.

The Joint Commission’s standards are developed in consultation with healthcare experts and providers, measurement experts, and patients. They are informed by scientific literature and expert consensus to help healthcare organizations measure, assess and improve performance. The surveyors also conducted onsite observations and interviews.

"The agency is honored to have achieved Joint Commission accreditation," says Michelle Dahlkemper, MBA, FACHE, President & Chief Executive Officer UR Medicine Home Care. "The Joint Commission is recognized in health care as meeting the highest level of quality and safety patient standards that is attainable and gives credit to our commitment to achieve accreditation consistent with standards established across URMC. The Home Care team should be commended for their hard work and perseverance. Accreditation demonstrates compliance with Medicare and Medicaid guidelines and the stringent criteria established by the accrediting body. The organization, board of directors, and system partners are proud of this achievement."
