About Us

Science policy sits at the intersection of public policy and science, combining the two fields in order to highlight, promote, and advocate for policies regarding science, research, funding, technological advancement, healthcare, and environment. 

The University of Rochester Science Policy Initiative (UR-SPI), founded in 2019, is a group of graduate students and postdoctoral fellows that aim to foster an environment and collaboration for anyone interested in science policy. We host various events and workshops to enable skill development to effectively communicate and advocate science policy. In addition, we emphasize career development by offering different opportunities for our members such as conferences, networking events, and partnering with alumni for mentorship.
