Teledentistry is a safe way to help your residents keep their smiles as healthy as possible. Safety restrictions have led to increased oral health problems among nursing home residents – but teledentistry makes it possible to provide dental examinations to patients right where they live. When caught early, oral disease can be reversed or managed with appropriate measures provided by a geriatric dentist or hygienist located at a remote EIOH location.
How does teledentistry for nursing homes work?
Teledentistry connects patients, caregivers, and providers by using a special, high-definition, intraoral camera. We can train a staff member or nurse from your facility to operate an intraoral camera to look in the client's mouth and take pictures and videos to share with our providers.
Already partnered with an on-site dental provider?
Sometimes residents require additional care outside of what can be managed in the nursing home setting. Coupled with services provided by your contracted provider, teledentistry can be used for consultation and triage, allowing dentists located at EIOH to advise as to whether dental concerns constitute a need for urgent care, whether a condition can be temporarily alleviated, or whether treatment can be postponed.
