Programs
The Center for Community Health & Prevention (CCHP) offers a wide variety of programs and initiatives aimed at preventing disease and promoting well-being.
- Research Training: Community-Based Participatory Research is a collaborative approach to research. Teams are comprised of community members and researchers. The curriculum focuses on involving community members or recipients of interventions during all phases of the research process and recognizes the unique strengths that each member of the research team brings.
This free course, sponsored by the UR CTSI and CCHP, aims to train University of Rochester researchers (faculty, trainees and students) and community members in community-engaged research.
- Workforce Navigation: To help address the social determinants of health, our Center offers two Workforce Navigation programs, the Teen Health & Success Partnership and the Rochester Health Profession Opportunity Grants (ROC-HPOG), for at-risk students and University of Rochester employees.
- Cancer Screenings: The Cancer Services Program of the Finger Lakes Region promotes age-appropriate breast, colorectal and cervical cancer screening for uninsured men and women and serves individuals in Monroe, Seneca, Yates, Livingston, Ontario and Wayne Counties.
- Surveillance & Prevention: This national effort provides population-based communicable disease data. Studies evaluate vaccine programs, monitor disease patterns, and identify populations at risk for severe infections.
- Health & Nutrition: The Center offers both clinical and community-based programs that help individuals make healthy lifestyle changes they can maintain for life. Whether you’re working with our team of dietitians, lifestyle counselors and physicians in our clinic or a health program coordinator out in the community, we can help you reach your health goals.
