Surgical Health Outcomes Reaching for Equity (SHORE) is dedicated to advancing surgical outcomes science and shaping healthcare practices and policies on local, regional, and national levels. We train future leaders in academic surgery by offering cutting-edge methodologies, research exposure, seminars, and grant-writing mentorship. Over the past decade, our fellows have authored over 150 manuscripts across surgical subspecialties and numerous book chapters.
We foster a culture of collaboration, working with stakeholders across disciplines to address surgical outcome disparities. Our emphasis on Community-Based Participatory Research ensures that diverse voices are heard and valued throughout the research process. Utilizing diverse methodologies and datasets, we inform culturally sensitive interventions and decision tools. Additionally, we integrate our findings into practice guidelines for improved patient care.
Moreover, we provide unparalleled grant writing expertise to our trainees, equipping them with the skills needed to secure funding for their future research endeavors. Through workshops, one-on-one mentorship, and practical experience, we empower future leaders in academic surgery to successfully navigate the grant application process.
