Radiation Oncology Medicine Residency
The Department of
Radiation Oncology is a full academic department at the University of Rochester. Our faculty is nationally recognized and our department is a leading force in cancer treatment and research, pioneering novel treatments in shaped beam surgery, the latest in patient motion research, as well as world renowned basic science breakthroughs.
Our Residency Program has been fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) since 1971. Our well-established 4-year program is approved for 8 residency positions.

Therapeutic Medical Physics Residency
During their two-year clinical project rotation, residents have the opportunity to participate in a variety of ongoing projects within the department while being mentored by a faculty member. Residents will work on clinically relevant projects, identifying issues or needs in the clinical environment and developing solutions. We will also assist our residents in developing the ability to critically evaluate medical physics research and scholarship.
Residents will attend the following meetings to foster and facilitate these activities (projects and research): A monthly physics journal club, where residents present and provide critical comments on recent articles to members of the physics division; monthly research project meetings and a bi-weekly clinical project meeting, where residents will learn about and contribute to faculty physicists' and staffs' ongoing projects.

M.S. in Medical Physics Program
Our MS in Medical Physics program is a 2-year program designed to provide graduates with an understanding of the underlying physical principles and mathematics used in medical imaging and radiation therapy. We are looking for students who want to work as true clinician-scientists, tackling real-world problems through daily practice and research. Our program requires students complete a research project that provides them hands-on experience with performing original research, as well as opportunities to use advanced clinical tools.
Students will have opportunities to present their research in journal seminars, participate in numerous clinical rotations, and have access to cutting edge technologies. Our program also focuses on successful mentorship to best prepare our students for personal, academic and professional success.
