UR Clinical Trials
GB28547 - A Phase II, Randomized, Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled, Study to Assess the Efficacy and Safety of Lebrikizumab in Patients with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. This study is entitled RIFF. The study will assess an investigational (Lebrikizumab) IPF medication when used alone (known as a ‘monotherapy’) and in combination with an approved IPF medication called pirfenidone. Recruitment is coming to a close for the monotherapy cohort and we are now looking for patients to join the combination cohort. If you suffer from IPF and are at least 40, you may be eligible.
Stem Cells
Stem cells are being studied in a wide range of clinical conditions including IPF. Although some centers say they offer stem cell therapy for IPF, this treatment is not FDA approved for the treatment of IPF. The University of Miami is currently studying the role of stem cells in IPF; however definitive evidence of benefit is not yet available.
Clinical Trials in the US
All clinical trials in the US are required to be registered with the National Institutes of Health. Information about clinical trials involving IPF can be found at ClinicalTrials.gov.
