Education & Training
The FLCEAD works with the UR Finger Lakes Geriatric Education Center (FLGEC) to promote the development of a dementia-competent workforce in our region. Together we train primary care providers and allied health professionals across many disciplines to care for those with dementia and their care partners.
We also strive to develop faculty to advance dementia education within colleges and across professional training programs. Topics include benefits of early detection and diagnosis, screening for cognitive impairment in the primary care setting, diagnosis and assessment, behavior management, updates on medications for management of dementia, enhancing emotional well-being of caregivers, advance care planning, and end of life care.
Education on Alzheimer's disease and related dementias is available for physicians, nurses, social workers, other allied health professions, and for students training in these professions.
