ACGME-approved clinical fellowships:
Departmental Fellowships
The Neuromuscular Disease Center offers the following one year Departmental Fellowships at the University of Rochester Medical Center: Advanced Neuromuscular Medicine, Peripheral Nerve Disorders, and Research. To apply for a departmental fellowship we will need the following items from you CV, Letter of Intent, URMC Application (can be found at bottom of page) and 3 letters of recommendation.
Advanced Neuromuscular Medicine Fellowship:
To apply for Advanced Neuromuscular Medicine Fellowship you will need to have completed a Neurology Residency and an ACGME Neuromuscular Medicine Fellowship Training. As an Advanced Neuromuscular Medicine Fellow you will have the following goals and objectives:
- Clinical evaluation and therapy of neuromuscular disease in both the in-patient and out-patient settings.
- Training in interpretations of muscle and nerve histopathology.
- Training in performance and interpretation of nerve conduction studies and electromyography.
- Mentorship and step-by-step guidance in performance of clinical or basic science research projects in neuromuscular disease..
Peripheral Nerve Disorders Fellowship:
To apply for a Peripheral Nerve Disorders Fellowship you will need to have completed Neurology Residency or equivalent training in your respective Country of origin by the time of entry into the fellowship program. As a Peripheral Nerve Disorders Fellow you will have the following goals and objectives:
- Clinical evaluation of in-patient and out-patient settings.
- Training in rehabilitation and orthotic approaches for patients with peripheral nerve disorders.
- Training in performance and interpretation of nerve conduction studies and electromyography.
- Training in use of autonomic function testing for assessment of autonomic component of peripheral neuropathies.
- Mentorship and step-by-step guidance in performance of clinical or basic science research projects in peripheral nerve disease.
Neuromuscular Research Fellowship:
To apply for a Research Fellowship you will need to have preferably completed a Neurology Residency.
As a Research Fellow you will have the following goals and objectives:
- Mentorship and step-by-step guidance in performance of clinical or basic science research projects in Neuromuscular Diseases.
