How to Become a Standardized Patient
Standardized patients (SPs) are specially trained to act as patients for the instruction, practice and assessment of medical examination skills of medical students, fellows, residents and other healthcare providers.
Ideal SP candidates should possess the following skills:
- Excellent communication skills
- Responsibility and accountability; SPs expected to be on time and prepared for all agreed upon sessions.
- Desire to help educate, learn, and to have fun.
- Have Monday-Friday daytime availability; sessions vary in day and duration throughout the year.
If you are interested in becoming an SP, please complete this online questionnaire. SP hiring periods occur as the need for more SPs arises. Once you submit your questionnaire, we will keep it on file and will notify you via the email you provide in the questionnaire when we are hosting the next SP information session.
