Nutrition in Medicine Research Center
The UR Medicine Nutrition in Medicine Research Center works to understand the effects of nutrition on human health. Diet and lifestyle are often thought of "prevention" or "wellness", but previous research demonstrates that nutrition is also effective treatment for a variety of conditions as well. Utilizing human subject clinical trials, the center aims to add to our understanding of food as a disease treatment as well as prevention and wellness.
Where We're Located
The center is located at 1205 Bay Road, Webster, NY 14580. With a commercial kitchen and a full-time chef, the center provides prepared meals to research subjects to help them follow a particular dietary intervention. We also offer whole food, plant-based meals for purchase by the public at https://www.nutritioninmedicinerocs.org. All proceeds go towards our research activities.
Broad Collaboration
Projects are implemented alongside multiple physicians and researchers from various URMC departments, including Cancer Prevention and Control, Oncology, Cardiology, Endocrinology, and Nephrology. In addition, projects sometimes involve collaborators, resources and services from outside institutions such as Johns Hopkins, Cleveland Clinic, and Emory University.
