At the Flaum Eye Institute, we offer education that encompasses all eye care subspecialties. Our aim is to provide residents, fellows and practicing eye care providers the most appropriate and up-to-date clinical skills and scientific knowledge.
The Flaum Eye Institute has a broad educational mission. Distinguished by its residency program which is growing in size and national stature, FEI also provides a host of other training opportunities including sub-specialty fellowships, research fellowships, medical student training and continuing professional education for ophthalmologists and allied health professionals. This is made possible through our clinical and research faculty of more than 30 who are working together to develop the most advanced diagnostics and treatments for a wide range of eye conditions. Our faculty members are actively involved in training tomorrow’s ophthalmologists, scientists and eye care professionals in the following areas:

Part of a top tier medical school, The Flaum Eye Institute is home to some of the most influential vision researchers in the world.
Experts from the Center for Visual Science, Institute of Optics, Advanced Retinal Imaging Alliance, Warner School for Education, departments of Neuroscience, Biomedical Engineering, Psychiatry, Brain & Cognitive Sciences, and Genetics give our residents the opportunity to explore a wide range of basic science and translational research avenues.
The Flaum Eye Institute Distinguished Visiting Professor Series offers monthly opportunities to interact with national sub specialty experts and learn about the advances in eye care and the annual Rochester Ophthalmology Conference draws some of the finest experts from throughout the world. The FEI Basic Science Seminar Series is the 1st Friday of every month.
