Flaum Announces New Permanent Location in Geneseo

The Flaum Eye Institute is excited to announce our new permanent Geneseo office. Located at 48 South Street. The location gives Flaum a permanent home as we continue our mission of expanding eye care across the region.

“I’m thrilled that the Flaum eye is expanding south into Geneseo to offer a new community easier access to our expert eye care,” David A. DiLoreto, M.D., Ph.D., Professor and Chair of the Flaum Eye Institute.

The new facility allows cataract surgery to be done right on site, as well as the opportunity for glasses and contact lens fitting. The building has two stories, with the exam rooms being upstairs, and the optical shop being on the first floor.

We will have several great providers available on site, who deal with a multitude of specialties. This includes Ruba Muhtaseb, M.D., who provides both general and surgical ophthalmology, including cataract surgery, along glaucoma, and diabetic eye care services. Muhtaseb is also fluent in Arabic.

Pediatric services will also be available on site through the expertise of Andrea Avila, M.D. Avila brings both medical and surgical knowledge in dealing with infants, children and adolescents, in addition to being Fluent in Spanish.

As mentioned, the new location allows for expanded optometry services including glasses and contact lens fitting. This will be led by Wei Teresa Chen, O.D., who has a great knowledge of diagnosing and treating ocular disease, as well as contact lens fitting, including gas permeable lenses.

Also in the building will be other University of Rochester medical practices. This includes primary care, laboratory services, and orthopedics and podiatry on the first floor. On the second floor will be cardiology, urology, and ENT/Audiology.

For the past year, Flaum has been operating out of a shared space with ENT on Ryan Drive near Walmart.
