Lake Ontario MicroPlastics Center (LOMP)
The Lake Ontario MicroPlastics Center (LOMP) is jointly hosted by the University of Rochester and the Rochester Institute of Technology. LOMP is a hub for research, translation, and community engagement around how different types of plastics enter and move through the Great Lakes ecosystems and how microplastics may affect human health under different environmental conditions.
WHAT IS LOMP?
LOMP is a hub for research, translation, and engagement to inform strategies to prevent negative impacts of microplastics on human health in the Great Lakes region. It is one of six Centers for Oceans and Human Health jointly funded by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences.
