PROGRAM OVERVIEW
2017 was a year in which communities across the United States experienced devastating flooding, cyber-attacks, infectious disease outbreaks and the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history. The 2018 Western Region Health Coalition Emergency Management Workshop will provide participants with relevant information and best practice suggestions to better prepare for, manage and recover from such incidents that could occur within our coalition.
PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
- Identify ways in which hospitals, EMS, public health and emergency management can prepare for, respond to and recover from a mass shooting incident
- Understand how a Social Media Analysis & Response Team (SMART) can be created, managed and used during any phase of the emergency management lifecycle to instantly connect with constituents
- Examine how the FBI's Cyber Task Force investigates high-tech crimes and identify ways to combat computer intrusions, viruses and other cyber threats
- Discuss the response roles and actions involved in an infectious disease (mumps) outbreak
- Review Team Rubicon's operations in recent disasters nationwide
TARGET AUDIENCE
Hospitals, EMS, public health and emergency management who may play a role in a disaster that affects the health delivery system in the community
