Articulation Agreement Between the

University of Rochester and

St. John Fisher College Wegmans School of Pharmacy

Effective Date: January 1, 2017

This articulation agreement facilitates the transfer of credit from St. John Fisher College Wegmans School of Pharmacy Pharm D degree program to the MS in Epidemiology at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. The agreement is based on a mutual commitment by the University of Rochester (UR) and St. John Fisher College (SJFC) to support graduate student education and career advancement.

St. John Fisher College is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education as is the University of Rochester.

The agreement is designed such that students completing the agreed-upon courses as requirements and electives within the SJFC Doctor of Pharmacy curriculum may seamlessly transfer them into the UR Master’s in Epidemiology.

Students wishing to participate in this articulation program should select the following courses as electives within their SJFC Pharm D curriculum as these have been vetted and pre-approved by faculty at the University of Rochester to be accepted as transfer credits into the master’s degree.

1. SJFC Course PHAR3123 Principles, Methods, and Clinical Application of Epidemiology in Pharmacy Practice, I (2 cr.) and PHAR4223 Principles, Methods, and Clinical Application of Epidemiology in Pharmacy Practice, I (2 cr.)

as transfer for University of Rochester PM415 Principles of Epidemiology (3 cr.)

2. SJFC PHAR3135 Health Care Delivery (3 cr.)
   1. as UR elective (3 cr.)

3. SJFC PHAR5113 Medical Literature Evaluation I  (1 cr.) and

PHAR5213 Medical Literature Evaluation II (1 cr.) and
PHAR6400 APPE Research Elective (1 cr.) or Independent Research Study Elective (1 cr.) or an approved Epidemiology/Biostatistics/Research Methods elective course (2 cr.)

as UR elective (3 cr.)

Students transferring from SJFC into the University of Rochester would be subject to existing admissions requirements: https://www.urmc.rochester.edu/education/graduate/masters/admissions.aspx. Students may use their Pharmacy College Admission Test (PCAT) scores in lieu of the GRE requirement.

Students must have achieved a grade of B or better in any of the prescribed courses in order for the credits to transfer.

In order the complete the MS Epidemiology in one year at the University of Rochester, students are encouraged to begin preparation for their MS thesis research during their Pharm D program and therefore should inform their advisors of their intent to transfer.

Students wishing to complete the MS Epidemiology in one year should plan to take PM401 Quantitative Methods in Public Health Research and PM410 Introduction to Data Management at the University of Rochester in the summer prior to the first fall semester at the University.

This transfer agreement is effective as of January 1, 2017 and remains in effect until terminated by either St. John Fisher College or the University of Rochester.
