The University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry graduation ceremony honors the achievements of graduate students in Master of Science, Master of Arts, Master of Public Health, and Advanced Certificate programs. Celebrate with us on Saturday, May 17, at 4:00 p.m. in Kilbourn Hall in Eastman Theatre. Congratulations to the Class of 2025!

What to Expect & Ceremony Details:

Parking

Parking for the graduation ceremony is available in the East End Garage (accessible from East Main Street in either direction and via East Avenue, Scio, and Swan Streets). Parking is also available at a number of nearby lots and on the street. Please note that Gibbs Street will be closed to traffic for the ceremonies.

Arrival  

Master’s and Advanced Certificate graduates must arrive at Lowry Hall, located in Eastman Theatre, no later than 3:15 p.m. to allow sufficient time for robing and assembly of processional lines. Upon arrival, graduates must check in at the registration table in Lowry Hall to receive their name card. Candidates will be lined up according to their degree (MS, MPH, MA, and Advanced Certificate). 

There will be no place to store handbags and personal items. Please leave any personal items that do not fit in your pockets with your guests. 

At 3:45 p.m., all graduates are to be lined up in their proper columns, ready to begin the procession. Ceremony staff will assist with the lineup.

Guests 

Guests may enter through the main entrance for Kilbourn Hall off Gibbs Street. Doors will open into Kilbourn Hall at 3:30pm.  Tickets are not required for this ceremony. 

Academic Attire (Regalia) 

Regalia (robe, hood, and cap) is required for graduates participating in the graduation ceremony.  Starting April 21, regalia can be purchased at the Barnes & Noble in College Town if graduates did not pre-order regalia online before March 31. 

Please do not wear anything over your robe other than school cords and stoles.

Ceremony Information

Degree graduates are called to the stage to receive their diploma cases in degree order (MS, MPH, MA, and Advanced Certificate). Diplomas will be mailed to you after the ceremony.

Reception 

A reception for faculty, graduates, and their guests will be held following the ceremony on the patio in front of Miller Center located across from the entrance of Eastman Theatre.  

Photographer

A professional photographer will photograph all graduates during the presentation of their diploma cases.  After the ceremony, the photographer will capture photos of you with your guests at the reception. An online gallery of photos from the event will be made available to all graduates, with complimentary downloads as a gift from the School of Medicine and Dentistry.

Accessibility Requests

Reserved seating for graduates and guests with wheelchairs or who need other accommodations will be available, and must be reserved when students register themselves or their guests for the graduation ceremony. Ushers will direct guests with accommodations to the designated seating areas.
