How to Apply
Applications are accepted only through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).
Applicants are required to provide a narrative personal statement and three letters of reference in addition to the Dean's Letter. These letters should come from faculty members who know the candidate well and can speak to their character and qualifications. We encourage letters from cardiothoracic and general surgery faculty. One letter should come from a senior surgical faculty member - the Chairman of the Department of Surgery, Chief or Chair of Cardiothoracic Surgery or the Program Director in Surgery or Cardiothoracic Surgery.
Completed applications are reviewed by the faculty committee.
We will be reviewing completed applications in early October. Invitations for interviews will be sent to applicants on 10/22/24, the thoracic surgery residency universal offer date. Interviews will be held in person in December and January.
The residency program selects the most qualified candidates regardless of their age, sex, race, creed, sexual orientation, national origin, or handicap. The selection process focuses on information supplied in the application package (application form, personal statement, Dean's Letter, scholastic accomplishments, letters of recommendation, USMLE scores) and personal interviews.
