Geriatric Medicine Fellows
2025-2026
J. Anne Nicole Del Rosario, M.D.
What inspired you to pursue a fellowship in Geriatric Medicine?
My inspiration to pursue Geriatrics stems from my upbringing and my experiences with taking care of elderly patients during residency. I grew up with my grandparents, and later, after I finished medical school, I had the privilege of taking care of my grandmother. This gave me a deeper, personal understanding of the unique needs and challenges faced by the older population. Additionally, I have come to recognize that the elderly are often overlooked in healthcare, which further inspired me to commit myself to providing this population with the care and support they deserve.
Why did you choose Rochester, NY, as the destination for your fellowship?
I have heard many positive things from colleagues who have trained and lived in Rochester. The city's urban-suburban environment, along with its rich diversity, makes it an appealing place to live and work in. I believe it is an ideal setting for me to continue growing both professionally and personally
What specific aspects of Geriatric Medicine are you most passionate about? Are there any particular professional interests or areas of focus you hope to explore during your time with us?
I am very passionate about preventive care in geriatrics, particularly fall prevention and medication reviews (to avoid polypharmacy). I do want to explore the inpatient aspects of geriatrics, as I have not had much experience with them during residency.
Looking ahead, where do you envision yourself practicing after completing your fellowship?
After fellowship, I do see myself practicing on the East Coast of the US. Ideally in a PACE program!
What do you hope to learn and accomplish during your fellowship with us? Are there any specific skills, experiences, or goals you have in mind?
My goal for the fellowship is to develop the confidence and competence to care for the geriatric population across all aspects of their health, including preventive care, chronic disease management, cognitive and mental health, mobility, etc. I aim to build a strong foundation that will prepare me for my practice after fellowship.
Outside of your professional pursuits, we believe in the importance of maintaining a healthy work-life balance. What are some of your hobbies and interests outside of medicine?
Outside of medicine, I do love to play the piano for stress relief, spend time with loved ones, listen to music, and read novels.

What specific aspects of Geriatric Medicine are you most passionate about? Are there any particular professional interests or areas of focus you hope to explore during your time with us?
I am passionate about providing holistic care for older adults, grounded in the bio-psycho-social model. I am especially interested in supporting patients with dementia, chronic pain, or behavioral health challenges through a team-based approach. I value the opportunity to include families in the care process and to explore how emotional, social, and cultural factors shape health outcomes. I am also deeply committed to promoting the overall well-being of older adults—not just by managing medical conditions, but by supporting their autonomy, dignity, and quality of life. During fellowship, I hope to deepen my skills in integrating psychosocial and behavioral approaches into chronic disease management and further develop my ability to care for patients with complex needs.
Looking ahead, where do you envision yourself practicing after completing your fellowship?
I hope to practice as a primary care physician in an outpatient clinic setting, where I can deliver high-quality geriatric care as part of an interdisciplinary team. My goal is to build long-term relationships with older adults and support their health, independence, and well-being through accessible and compassionate care.
What do you hope to learn and accomplish during your fellowship with us? Are there any specific skills, experiences, or goals you have in mind?
During my fellowship, I hope to grow into a geriatrician who can support not only the medical needs of older adults, but also their daily lives, social circumstances, and emotional well-being. I want to strengthen my ability to work effectively within a team-based approach to provide holistic care. I’m also eager to deepen my skills in addressing the psychological aspects of aging and chronic illness. In addition, I hope to gain a better understanding of the complex systems surrounding geriatric care—such as long-term care and community resources—so that I can help patients and families navigate them more effectively.
Outside of your professional pursuits, what are some of your hobbies and interests?
Outside of medicine, I enjoy staying active through walking, hiking, and playing soccer and basketball. I also like winding down by watching Netflix. Recently, I’ve been hoping to get back into skiing for the first time in about 10 years—it’s something I used to love and really miss.

Why Geriatrics?
I have been drawn to caring for older adults for most of my medical training. I was very close with my grandparents growing up and was able to help care for my grandmother with Alzheimer’s Dementia and want to continue to be part of the world of older adults in my career. I love the whole-person approach to geriatric medicine and value prioritizing family units and stories as an integral part of creating a medical care plan.
Why Rochester?
My husband and I trained in the Southeast prior to fellowship but are both originally from the Northeast and wanted to return closer to home, while exploring a new city. Rochester seemed like the perfect mix of an exciting city with lots to do while being small enough to form community quickly.
Professional Interests?
There is a new part of geriatric medicine that I am excited about every day! But I am most interested in home care medicine and primary care.
Where do you see yourself practicing?
I am interested in pursuing a career that incorporates an element of home care and open to exploring new aspects of geriatrics throughout this year! Geriatrics is an amazing field because there are so many arenas in which geriatricians can have an important impact.
What do you hope to learn or accomplish during fellowship?
I hope to learn from the expertise of the geriatricians and patients in the Rochester community – I am looking forward to being a part of the Monroe Community Hospital world and seeing more of rehab medicine. I also hope to take my medical training and reshape it through a lens of geriatric syndromes and approaches.
Other interests?
I love crossword puzzles and running! I am excited to learn how to garden in Western New York and am planning out my vegetable garden now!
