Curriculum

The fellow will be exposed to on-scene death investigation by accompanying the medical investigators and court appearances, first by accompanying the forensic pathologists and later by giving sworn testimony in the cases that the fellow has participated.  On-site training is available in forensic toxicology and odontology. Additional off-site rotations include visits to the Monroe County Crime Lab (ballistics, serology, and trace evidence), firearms training, and a forensic anthropology course. The fellow will be expected to interact with and instruct medical students, residents, law enforcement officers, and attorneys during regular business.  They will have private office space and ample educational materials including standard texts and microscopic glass slide reviews.  There will be regularly scheduled didactics, Journal Clubs, and diagnostic consensus conferences with faculty members.  The fellow will be given time and funds to attend at least one national meeting (either NAME or AAFS).
