How to Apply

Applicant Information

The standard three-year training program in Cardiology participates in the National Residency Matching Program to determine resident selection.

  • Applicants are required to submit, via the ERAS system, a completed application form, a narrative personal statement, and three letters of recommendation in support of their candidacy.
  • As a prerequisite, applicants must have successfully completed Internal Medicine Residency training in an ACGME-accredited program.
  • Complete applications are reviewed by a faculty committee consisting of the program director and at least two program faculty. This committee identifies applicants to be selected for an interview. All of our interviews will be virtual during this interview season.
  • Interviews are conducted by several members of the cardiology faculty, who are asked to evaluate each interviewee. During the interview, applicants receive information about the program, participating faculty, and life in the Rochester area.
  • The Fellowship Selection Committee reviews the individual interview evaluations and develops the rank list, which is submitted to the National Residency Matching Program.
  • Our program will be opting in to signaling through ERAS for the 2025 interview cycle.  While we will consider signaling in our decision to accept applicants for interviews, our process is holistic, and it is only one of many factors of which we will take into account. We may use signaling to aid us in our decision to offer an interview, but we will not use it in our final ranking process.

For additional information on signaling, please refer to the (ERAS)website.
