BCH 515 - Critical Thinking in Research Science

Day/Times: Friday 3:30 – 5:00 p.m. (7 sessions per semester)
Course Description: Students will present a history of the experimental work leading to their research project. The history will include a selection of published and unpublished work from their advisor's lab and other labs in the same field that provides a rationale for undertaking the project. Students will conclude with a report of their own published and preliminary data. The focus throughout will be on interpreting experimental data and engaging student interactions.
BCH 517 - Topics in Cellular, Biochemical and Molecular Sciences

Day/Times: Wednesday Seminars at 2:00 p.m.; additional meetings with selected seminar speakers
Course Description: Students will attend the Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics Invited Speakers Seminar Series during the semester. For selected speakers, students will read and discuss research publications recommended by the speaker one week prior to the seminar. Students will meet with selected speakers just after the seminar and participate in a discussion about the publications and the seminar content.
