About Golisano Children's Hospital

Girl with flowerThe 132-bed Golisano Children’s Hospital at the University of Rochester Medical Center is the area’s only children's hospital. It serves as the referral center for all seriously ill or injured children from the 17-county Finger Lakes region. The hospital is committed to treating all children regardless of their family’s ability to pay.

Golisano Children’s Hospital is a member of the National Association of Children’s Hospitals and Related Institutions (NACHRI) and is one of 170 Children’s Hospitals affiliated with the national, not-for-profit Children's Miracle Network (CMN), in which 100 percent of all local donations stay in the area.

Since the opening of Strong Memorial Hospital in 1926, the Department of Pediatrics has played a vital role in the life of the hospital and the health of the community. Throughout the years, our faculty has sought new and innovative ways to meet the needs of children in Rochester, the Finger Lakes region, and beyond. Our initiatives have included providing personal and comprehensive care for each child and their family, educating future pediatricians and pediatric specialists, and performing progressive research to learn better ways to treat and prevent illnesses that affect our children. Our legacy is one of community care and rigorous research, seeking to help every child be a "strong child."
