Dr. Alio is an Applied Anthropologist with over 20 years of experience in qualitative and mixed-methods research in the context of vulnerable communities locally, nationally and globally.

Research Interest: Social determinants of health in low-income communities
Research Interest: Program evaluation methods including integration of qualitative and quantitative research methods and on maternal child related health outcomes.
Research Interest: Sexual health, specifically HIV prevention among populations of color and non-hetero-normative behavior, as well as the influence of healthcare providers and healthcare systems on the health of these populations.
Research Interest: Examining the relationship between social inequality and intimacy in the United States.
Research Interest: Environmental Medicine and Medical Ecology; Public Health implications of endocrine disrupting compounds, social determinants of academic success, and program evaluation
Research Interest: Smoking Cessation in special populations, Technology/Web Assisted Risk Behavior Intervention and Dissemination of effective interventions to physician practices

Research Interest: Identifying asset based-modalities of HIV prevention and health maintenance in marginalized populations by examining the intersectionalities of age, race, sexual identity and behaviors, and human rights.
