Specialty Pharmacy Internship

The UR Specialty Pharmacy is a health-system specialty pharmacy (HSSP) serving the patients of UR Medicine. Our dedicated pharmacist and medication access specialist work with the provider team to help start initiate specialty medicine and support patient’s care plan. See below for the clinics we serve:

Internship Program Structure

Throughout your time at UR Specialty Pharmacy you will:

• Work in collaboration with clinical pharmacist to make outreaches to patients
• Communicate with patients to schedule filling and delivery of medication
• Answer and triage incoming phone calls
• Prepare prescriptions for delivery to patients, this includes:
  • Completing prescription data entry
  • Coordinating prior authorizations with other clinical staff
  • Assisting with enrolling patients in assistance programs, grants, and foundation to reduce out of pocket costs
• Complete prescription fulfillment and operations at our off-site specialty pharmacy location

We offer many additional opportunities based on interest such as:

• Participation in various topic discussions
• CE Presentation for pharmacy technicians on a specialty pharmacy topic
• Completion of a quality improvement/research project
• for networking and mentorship

Hours
Monday-Friday 8 am - 4:30 pm (during summer and school breaks)
