Purpose Statement

The PGY2 pediatric pharmacy residency program builds on Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) education and PGY1 pharmacy residency programs to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists in specialized areas of practice. The PGY2 pediatric pharmacy residency provides residents with opportunities to function independently as practitioners by conceptualizing and integrating accumulated experience and knowledge and incorporating both into the provision of patient care or other advanced practice settings. Residents who successfully complete this PGY2 pediatric pharmacy residency are prepared for advanced patient care, academic, or other specialized positions, along with board certification in pediatric pharmacy.

The URMC PGY2 pediatric pharmacy residency program will train residents through diverse rotational and longitudinal experiences, clinical research, and teaching and precepting opportunities to become confident, independent clinicians and leaders in pediatric pharmacotherapy.

What Our Graduates Are Saying...

"The institutional values, variety of rotations, and opportunity to work alongside leaders in the field of pharmacy brought me to URMC for my PGY1, and the overwhelming support I received from the best co-residents and preceptors during my PGY1 kept me on board for PGY2! As a Level I Trauma Center, Level IV NICU, and with the largest PICU in the region, the high acuity residency experience at Golisano Children's Hospital was a perfect fit for my PGY2 training. An academic medical center on the cutting edge of medicine with a Wegmans around each corner? Sign me up!"
