Susan O. Smith
Ms. Smith has been an Adult Nurse Practitioner at the University of Rochester in the Department of Neurological Surgery for the past 12 years. She is the cluster leader for twelve mid level providers who work collaboratively with the neurosurgeons of Rochester Neurosurgery Group. Her practice includes the care of adults with Epilepsy, Tumors of the Central Nervous System and Spinal disorders. She sees patients independently and in collaboration with
Dr. Webster H. Pilcher. Offices are located at the University of Rochester and at satellite clinics in Batavia, Geneva, Hornell and Corning.
Ms. Smith is certified nationally as an Adult Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and as a Neuroscience Nurse by the American Association of Neuroscience Nurses (AANN). She has completed specialty training as an RN First Assistant to become involved in all aspects of the patients’ care from diagnosis, surgery to post operative management.
Professionally she serves as President Elect of the Greater Rochester Chapter of the New York State Nurse Practitioner Association. She is the immediate past President of the Greater Rochester Chapter of the American Association of Neuroscience Nurses (AANN). She also serves on the Program Planning Committee for the AANN national meeting. Ms. Smith has spoken locally, regionally and national on the subjects of brain tumors, epilepsy and spinal disorders.
Ms. Smith received a Diploma in Nursing from the Ona M. Wilcox School of Nursing, a Bachelors Degree in Nursing from West Virginia Wesleyan College and a Master of Science as an Adult Nurse Practitioner from the University of Rochester in 1996.
