The IDEA team provides training and consulting services on Blackboard and associated educational technologies that you can use to teach your face-to-face, hybrid, or fully online course.

Blackboard

Blackboard is the University’s Learning Management System. A learning management system provides you with a comprehensive web-based site for your course. You can include your course content, as well as use any of the tools within the system to deliver your course. Blackboard includes tools for content delivery, assignment collection, discussion, and quizzing. It also includes automatic enrollment of students based on registration within the student information system and provides a location for grading student work and allowing students to see their grades securely.

Panopto

Panopto is the University’s video service. It offers the capability to stream video content to your students. It also allows you to create custom videos from your desktop showcasing  Powerpoint lectures or screen casting any application on your desktop.

Voicethread

The University licenses Voicethread for use in academic courses to provide an enhanced multimedia discussion board. Students can interact asynchronously using voice and/or video. Students can also create online presentations as assignments using Voicethread.

Zoom

Zoom is the University’s web collaboration service. It offers you the capability to meet online. Faculty
and staff are entitled to Pro accounts which offer the capability to host meetings with multiple participants for extended periods of time. Online meetings can take advantage of screen sharing and breakout rooms. Zoom can be used to hold online office hours, or online synchronous course sessions.
