Radiology Chair 1993-2001
Arvin Robinson, M.D., was recruited from Tulane University to Chair the Department of Radiology in 1992. Prior to arriving at UR, he served as Chair at Tulane and the University of Southern Alabama. Clinical accomplishments included departmental consolidation within the hospital and expansion of the fellowships training programs. Research programs progressed in functional MRI, ultrasound tissue characterization and volume tomographic CT scanning.
Other clinical accomplishments included development of special techniques for small joint MRI and the introduction of innovative interventional techniques in neuroradiology and angiography. The faculty also assumed clinical responsibilities at Highland Hospital in 2004.
He was also nationally active in education establishing the American Alliance of Academic Chief Residents in Radiology (A3CR2) which is a resident active forum supported by the Association of University Radiologists (AUR). He is a past President and Gold Medalist of the AUR.
Dr. Robinson served as Chair from 1993-2001. He then served as Chair at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in El Paso, Texas (2004-2015).
