Highland Looks to the Future
Four years ago, we were in the beginning months of a pandemic that brought with it many challenges for all. It gave us a whole new perspective on the safe delivery of health care, and we pivoted on many of our systems and processes. We took a fresh look at how we do things, and we did not go back to all our old ways when the pandemic lifted. We adapted to the changes and looked forward to new and better ways of providing care.
Now we are experiencing some changes in leadership as well. On July 1 Kathy Parinello will become President and CEO of Strong Memorial Hospital and later in the year we will welcome her as Highland’s President and CEO. Kathy has been a fervent supporter of Highland and our providers, and we look forward to working closely with her. We also look forward to maintaining a close relationship with Steve Goldstein as he transitions into his new role with UR Medicine to direct strategic integration of UR Medicine and lead post-acute care entities in Monroe County (Highlands at Brighton, Highlands at Pittsford, Highlands Living Center and UR Medicine Home Care). We thank him sincerely for all he has done for us and his dedicated work to keep Highland growing and thriving.
Searches are also underway for other key positions including Highland’s Chief Operating Officer, URMFG’s Chief Operating Officer, URMC’s Chief Nurse Executive and chair searches for the Strong departments of Anesthesiology and Surgery.
Several of Highland’s stellar department leaders are transitioning from their roles into other roles in their departments and we are welcoming new leaders. Some of our most revered physicians are retiring as well and we welcome new physicians on board. All of you will always be a part of Highland. We consider ourselves fortunate to have worked side by side with you, to have learned from you every day and to share in the mission of patient and family centered care at Highland. The future at Highland might look different but our goal of delivering the highest quality care will remain at the heart of all we do.
