Meet Highland's Integrated Medical Family Systems Consultant

JaCon Canese Washington, D.Min., M.C.P.C. is Highland Hospital's first Integrated Medical Family Systems Consultant, transitioning from her previous role as Senior Chaplain of the Spiritual Care Department.  In this new leadership role, Dr. JaCon works collaboratively with Highland’s nursing, medical, and other interdisciplinary teams, as well as sickle cell patients, to build an awareness about sickle cell disease (SCD) and the challenges both patients and staff confront with long-term and repeated hospitalizations to treat chronic debilitating pain.

The Perfect Score: Flawless NYSDOH Inspection for Highland Laboratory

Highland Hospital Laboratory recently received an error-free evaluation from the New York Department of Health in an unannounced inspection. Highland Chief of Pathology Julietta Fiscella, M.D., CPE, FCAP, emphasized the significance of this achievement, stating, "It’s unheard of to have an inspection without errors. It’s that significant." Director of Laboratory and Support Services Tsega Belete, MT (ASCP) added, "It's really remarkable because of scope of the evaluation. So, we're extremely excited and proud of our staff and the work that we've been doing in the past couple of years."
