EHSC Seminar Series Highlighted Topic: Neurotoxicology and Air Pollution
Seminar narrative: Outcomes for individuals with a psychotic-spectrum disorder (PSD) are often poor, posing a profound burden to affected individuals and society. For that reason, increasing work has focused on better understanding potentially modifiable aspects of the environment that confer risk for PSDs. This research has uncovered a suite of social and physical/chemical factors related to the psychosis phenotype, though many open questions remain. In this talk, I will discuss several recently completed and ongoing studies in my lab to better understand some of these environmental risk factors and highlight areas for future research.
