Welcome from the Program Director
Medical physicists are highly trained professionals who must be able to critically analyze clinical situations and provide guidance on how to best provide care to patients receiving radiation.
The Masters of Science in Medical Physics Graduate Program is a new CAMPEP-Accredited program focused on producing future medical physicists who are ready to succeed in clinical medical physics. We are starting this program from the ground up, with a focus on achieving the CAMPEP requirements while encouraging strong mentorship ties between faculty and students. We hope to provide our students with all the skills necessary to improve patient safety and outcomes and pursue board-certification through the American Board of Radiology.
Our faculty is committed to guiding our students through their educational journey. All students will have a faculty member assigned to them as their academic mentor, an experienced physicist who is there to provide guidance for students relating to educational and professional questions. Students are encouraged to find a professional and research mentor prior to their second year. Students and mentors should be communicating regularly.
We are looking for students who want to work as true clinician-scientists, tackling real-world problems through daily practice and research. Our program requires students complete a research project that provides them hands-on experience with performing original research, as well as opportunities to use advanced clinical tools.
