Stages of Childhood Liver Cancer
Stage I
Cancer is confined to one spot in the liver and can be removed with surgery.
Stage II
Most of the cancer may be removed in an operation but very small (microscopic) amounts of cancer are left in the liver following surgery.
Stage III
Some of the cancer may be removed in an operation, but some of the tumor cannot be removed and remains either in the abdomen or in the lymph nodes.
Stage IV
Cancer has spread to other parts of the body.
Recurrent
Cancer has come back (recurred) after it has been treated. It may come back in the liver or in another part of the body.
