Eric Snyder is a recognized thought leader in the healthcare technology space with over two decades of experience. While the majority of his career has been focused on healthcare, his breadth of experience across multiple industries provides him with an unprecedented vision for the future of healthcare technology. Eric has directed projects with numerous academic healthcare institutions nationwide, leading to significant improvements and garnering national recognition. A published author and frequent speaker at industry conferences, Eric has been instrumental in driving growth and innovation. At the Wilmot Cancer Institute, he has led a team responsible for multiple award-winning technical achievements and industry firsts.

Erika Ramsdale, MD
Clinical Director
Dr. Ramsdale is a practicing oncologist, cancer and aging researcher, and data scientist. She is a dual-trained and board-certified oncologist and geriatrician with 12 years of experience in the oncology clinic. She completed a fellowship in medical ethics at the MacLean Center for Clinical Medical Ethics at the University of Chicago. She is an NIH-funded scientist investigating decision-making and outcomes in older adults with cancer and implementation of complex interventions to address issues around medication usage in these patients. She obtained a Master's in Data Science from the University of Rochester, and she has a passion for all things machine learning including model development and testing, deep learning in healthcare and issues of ethics and social justice surrounding machine learning algorithms. Her role on the team is to serve as a bridge between clinical and information science, provide consultative services to cancer center members seeking to use Hyperion data, and help guide vision and priorities for the team.
Scott Isaacs
Head of Architecture and Senior Innovator
Mr. Isaacs has worked in multiple technology and health-related fields for over 20 years, and his varied background gives him a unique perspective on collaborative efforts and the practical application of emergent technology. His background includes implementing and running a 10,000 SqFt collaborative University Lab that served as a cross-departmental project workspace and hub for industry partner engagement, subject matter expert creating training content for one of the nation’s leading IT certification associations, cloud architecture, deployment manager handling HIPAA and casino data, casino IT regulator for the Louisiana State Police and a disability analyst for Social Security.
Omara Alvelo
Team Administrator
Mrs. Alvelo has over 19 years of experience in the healthcare field and has gained knowledge from various departments within multiple organizations throughout her career. She joins the team with extensive management, leadership and administrative experience and puts a high value on the interpersonal relationships that drive collaboration. She is fluent in Spanish as well as being the team's licensed notary.
Anna Brown
Lead Developer
Mrs. Brown enthusiastically joined the team to make a difference in healthcare by providing better software solutions. With over 10 years of experience with software companies such as Wayfair and EverTrue, along with a degree in Computer Science from Northwestern University, Mrs. Brown specializes in building beautiful user interfaces using React.js and other front-end frameworks. In her spare time Mrs. Brown loves spending time with her family and friends, playing tennis and doing crosswords.
Scott Cunliffe
Lead Engineer
Mr. Cunliffe joined Wilmot Cancer Institute in July 2019 with a goal of utilizing technology to help improve decision making in the Cancer Center to positively impact patient quality of care and outcomes. He is lauded for his ability to facilitate needs assessments through collaboration with faculty and staff, and transform these assessments into meaningful, actionable insights via complex reporting and visualizations. His many accomplishments to date include the development of real time analytics for the infusion center, pharmacy, nursing and research groups.
Kevin Desousa
Senior Machine Learning / HCI Developer
Mr. Desousa is new to the healthcare field, but has had multiple years of experience within the fields of human computer interaction (HCI), machine learning, user interface/user experience design and full-stack software development. He was born and raised in Ontario, Canada where he obtained his Bachelor and Master’s degrees in Computer Science from Ontario Institute of Technology. He joined the Wilmot Cancer Institute in March 2022 with the goal of bridging HCI techniques with traditional machine learning to help advance the team’s development.
JC Conrad
Research Data Engineer II
After completing a Graphic Design BFA from RIT in 2017, JC moved to NYC where he worked as a Visual Designer and Art Director for a number of fashion and entertainment publications. In 2022, JC made a switch to Software Development by taking an accelerated coding bootcamp, bridging the gap between design, technology and everything in-between. They joined the team in early 2023, and continue to contribute a unique perspective to projects. JC loves all things art, film and fashion. You can often find them at their desk with their feline companion Barb.
Scott Paoni
Head of Product
Mr. Paoni has worked in healthcare and cancer R&D over 25 years with a cross-functional background involving product management, program/project management, business analysis, technical research operations management, and software development. Educated in Biochemistry and Immunology, he has a deep technical lead background in pre-clinical drug development, biomarker discovery, image analysis, Pathomics, pattern recognition, data analysis, research method development, programming, application administration, and systems administration. He has developed, implemented and supported research programs, risk management programs, technology and analytical software. Scott has managed projects related to Pathomics, geospatial analysis, health population analysis, data management systems, patient care management systems, clinical trials, bioinformatics, genomics, and research operations.
Lisa Smith
Lead Data Engineer & Genesee Staff Council Member
Mrs. Smith came to us from the Mathematics Department at SUNY Geneseo. During her 14-year tenure, she employed her dual education in mathematics and statistics to actively assist with undergraduate research across STEM fields. She taught and developed curriculum across all levels of mathematics, probability, statistics and computing. She was also the Director of the Mathematics Learning Center, where she both managed the tutoring center and harnessed a shared leadership model to developed and implement an innovative, online training program to deliver a comprehensive, high-impact experience for tutors and the students they serve. The program was adopted as the university standard and will be used campus-wide to train all student academic support personnel. It was also featured in the book Shared Leadership in Higher Education: A Framework and Models for Responding to a Changing World, published October 2021.

Emily Strong
Research Data Engineer II
Ms. Strong is a Penn State 2022 graduate with a Master's in Statistics and a Bachelor's in Mathematics. She has experience in infectious disease modeling, parameter inference and teaching undergraduate statistics courses. She joined the team in 2023 and is applying her statistical and programming knowledge in healthcare to better understand disease in our community. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, running, baking, and spending time with family and friends.
Wallace Wallace
UI/UX Designer + Virtual Reality Developer
Mx. Wallace is a RIT 2021 graduate with a Bachelor in new media interactive development and a minor in game design. With a background in user interface/user experience, virtual/augmented reality and graphic design, they seek to create educational games to help patients and providers alike. They joined the team in December 2021 to aid in data visualization and presentation. In their free time you can find them running in various places around Rochester and competing in marathons. With their trusty side kick Rat Bastian, Wallace is ready to take on the world!
