Department Scholarships
Scholarship for M.S. Degree in Biostatistics
The University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry is proud to offer a limited number of scholarships for qualified incoming applicants to our M.S. program in Biostatistics that will support a portion of the program’s tuition costs. The overarching goal of the graduate program is to offer advanced graduate-level training that will better prepare students for fulfilling careers in academia (including but not limited to PhD-level study), clinical care, government, and industry. The Department of Biostatistics and Computational Biology is strongly committed to promoting and supporting educational access in its training of the next generation of biomedical and health sciences professionals.
We believe that this commitment enhances the Department of Biostatistics and Computational Biology’s educational offerings and strengthens our community. The goal of the Biostatistics M.S. Scholarship is to broaden access for graduate students interested in pursuing a master’s degree in Biostatistics by attracting high performing students with undergraduate degrees in statistics, mathematics, computer science, or data science.
The number of scholarships offered varies, and intends to cover 35% of tuition costs for full-time study. Qualified scholarship applicants must be (i) pursuing, or have obtained, a bachelor's degree in the indicated field(s) with a major GPA exceeding the equivalent of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale; (ii) determined as having substantively met all relevant admission requirements; and, (iii) United States citizens or permanent residents. In addition to major GPA, the assessment of merit will additionally consider overall academic excellence, curricular rigor, and evidence of prior research experience. Scholarships can only be offered to support students engaged in full-time study.
